Dora Pembroke is a Sydney-based writer and cook with a fondness for retro recipes, modern flavours, and the quiet stories that unfold in domestic spaces. Taught to cook by her grandmother, Dora grew up with one foot in the past and the other firmly planted at the kitchen bench, where food was rarely just food.

Her debut narrative cookbook, Oh, for the Love of Scones!, blends recipes with storytelling. Through dry humour and a sprinkle of irreverence, the books tells a tale of love, marriage, and what really happens behind closed kitchen doors. The book is now in the process of becoming the foundation for Tattered Apron, an ongoing body of work exploring food, design, and everyday rituals.

Alongside cooking and writing, Dora enjoys reworking classic dishes, documenting domestic life, and making things by hand. She is currently at work on her first novel and can usually be found at home with her French Bulldog, Teo.
